Lars Ulrich, current Metallica drummer was born in Gentofte, Denmark on December 26th, 1963 to Lone and Torben Ulrich. He went to his first concert (Deep Purple) at age 9 with his Dad when one of his friends couldn't make it and had an extra ticket. Lars bought Fireball the next day, thus starting his love for music. When he was 17 he traveled all the way from San Fransisco to London to hear Diamond Head play. He planned this out poorly however and the band allowed him to tour with them for a few weeks. Lars had set up a special spot on Metal Massacre for his new band, which had not yet formed, when he was with James. The two worked hard to find two more people to play with them. From there on Lars promoted the band; he handed out flyers, types, etc. Lars is still pretty involved in these sorts of things with the band today. He likes films, art, buying art, scuba diving, and lesbians. Lars is currently dating Connie Neilsen and has 3 kids; Myles;11, Layne;9 (both with ex-wife Skylar) , and Bryce;2, whom he had with Connie.
